Groww named Startup of Year, shifts to wealth

Groww received the Startup of the Year honor at the ETSA 2026 awards, a distinction that highlights its rapid ascent within India’s fintech ecosystem. The company’s chief executive, Lalit Keshre, explained that the organization expects its newer business lines to reshape the overall revenue composition as those services gain scale and attract a broader client base.
Revenue mix shifts toward wealth services
In the most recent June quarter, equity derivatives and stock-trading activities accounted for 68.4% of total income, a noticeable decline from the 75.7% share recorded a year earlier, according to Groww’s regulatory filing. This reduction signals a deliberate move away from pure trading-driven earnings toward more diversified sources of profit.
While earnings from credit-related products are projected to remain steady, the firm is actively expanding its portfolio with wealth-focused offerings. New services now include wealth advisory, AI-powered mutual fund advisory, a range of bond products, and the ability for customers to trade U.S. equities directly from the platform.
Strategic moves and customer trends
The recent purchase of the wealth-management platform Fisdom for Rs 961 crore brings in a team that specializes in serving affluent investors and adds considerable depth to Groww’s advisory capabilities. The acquisition also provides technological assets that can be integrated into existing product lines, enhancing the overall user experience.
Across the broader fintech environment, quick-commerce sellers are seeing a surge in credit needs; for example, D2C perfume brand Secret Alchemist reported a 35% rise in working-capital requirements year-on-year during the festive season, while lenders such as Indifi have recorded a 50% jump in disbursements to quick-commerce focused merchants and FlexiLoans expects festive-season financing to exceed Rs 1,000 crore.
According to MeitY officials, as much as 85% of flagged child sexual exploitation and abuse material is taken down by social-media intermediaries within two hours. Earlier this year, the NCPCR and NHRC launched inquiries into Meta’s advertisements that featured such content, prompting the platforms to cooperate with Indian authorities.
In related corporate news, Ola Electric has finalized a Rs 1,000 crore rights issue, issuing 37.03 crore shares, while Razorpay announced a partnership with OpenAI to enable Indian businesses to run ads on ChatGPT.
